What Types of Posts Does Facebook Favor?

social-brand-chat

This week on Social Brand Chat presented by KXIC we discussed a question from Twitter: “Can you explain why FB has been favoring posts with no links, no pics in order to increase reach? The reach is better when I have a post with no pics or link, but people seemed to like the pics and such, so it seemed like FB had changed.”

For the answer, we provided an overview of Facebook’s Edgerank algorithm as well as their news feed algorithm, including a reference to this great breakdown at MarketingLand. We also reminded listeners about DJ Waldow’s quote that “best practices are what works best for your subscribers and followers.” There’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all social media!

Our social media news item took a look at the first ad to appear on Instagram for Michael Kors. Here’s a quick look at how that controversial ad might have actually done what it set out to do.
