Is It Time for Your Brand to Leave Facebook?

social-brand-chat

This week on Social Brand Chat presented by KXIC we discussed a question from Revival Iowa City via Twitter: “With Facebook’s ever-decreasing #’s, what alternatives do you recommend that have FB’s broad appeal?” To leave Facebook or not to leave Facebook, that is the question that is on many social media marketers’ minds. Let’s chat about this.

To begin with, we clarified the question. While many love to speculate that Facebook use is dropping, it’s not supported by any data (see this great post from Tom Webster for more).  That said, one challenge many marketers face is the steady reduction in organic reach via their Facebook pages as the network further refines its algorithm and advertising programs. While it’s too early to advise you to jump ship from the world’s largest social network, you definitely need to be aware of these updates and develop a plan of action for your brand.

For this week’s social media news, we discussed the reported random presence of Instagram ads across various users’ feeds. (We also got the latest news on the Chicago Bears line-up via social media during the show!)
