This week on Social Brand Chat presented by KXIC we discussed a question via Twitter from Kiley Dorton: “How do I protect the images of my private-self, public-self, work-self, and dad-self when posting/interacting?” While Kiley’s question doesn’t relate directly to how a business uses social media, it’s quite relevant as we often build up our own personal brand alongside our business’ brand. How do you sort out personal and professional social media? Let’s chat about this.
This week I was joined by our Director of Social Strategy Macy Koch for a special holiday edition of the show. We dug into Kiley’s question discussing various steps and strategies you can employ on Facebook, Instagram, and Google+ to keep your personal updates and images private, while still using social media to build your personal brand. Ultimately you have to figure out what works best for you.
With the New Year fast approaching we took a moment and reminded listeners about our upcoming Content Marketing Boot Camps in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Cedar Falls, Davenport, Ames, and Madison. This daylong intensive and interactive workshop will help you be a better blogger, video marketer, podcaster, and content creator. Listeners of the podcast get the best rate when they use promo code KXIC to register for any of our Content Marketing Boot Camps.
For this week’s social media news, we discussed the new Facebook video ads feature that the social giant rolled out this past week. While video is engaging and offers potential for advertisers, the network is clearly still working to find the delicate balance of user and advertiser engagement.
